UnitedHealthcare Medicare Advantage dental coverage leads the way with simplicity and choice in 2023

Q4 Word of Mouth newsletter 2022

Our UnitedHealthcare® Dental Medicare Advantage delivers enhanced coverage in 2023. It will be easier and simpler for you to work with than ever before.

One simple comprehensive code set
The majority of UnitedHealthcare Medicare Advantage plans offer Comprehensive dental coverage*. In 2023, dental plan designs are simplified to one Enhanced Comprehensive design that provides coverage for all major categories of service including:

  • Exams
  • X-rays
  • Cleanings
  • Fillings
  • Extractions
  • Crowns
  • Bridges
  • Root canals
  • Dentures
  • Implants

*Only a select few plans offer a Preventive and Diagnostic-only Dental plan design in 2023. Always verify plan benefits.

Working with us is easy
Plans are designed to ease administration for our in-network providers:

  • Prior authorizations are not required for claims submissions
  • Request and access pre-treatment estimates in real-time using the UnitedHealthcare Dental Provider Portal
  • All the information you need is in the Provider Quick Reference Guide at UHCdental.com

Identifying and accepting our dental plan
Almost all UnitedHealthcare Medicare Advantage members will have the UnitedHealthcare UCard™ in 2023.*

  • Plans offering dental coverage will include the UCard logo and have “with dental” after the plan name on the member ID card

This makes it simpler than ever to verify you can support a patient through your participation in the UnitedHealthcare Dental National Medicare Advantage Network.

*Peoples Health Plans in Louisiana use a different member ID card. To evaluate eligibility for members on these plans look for “with UnitedHealthcare Dental” after the plan name. Call the number on the card with any questions.

Getting reimbursed with Medicare Advantage Plans
Member ID cards will state either HMO or PPO after the plan name but before “with dental”. Your participation in the UnitedHealthcare Dental National Medicare Advantage Network allows you to see members in both HMO and PPO plan types. Please know that you will get paid for services provided to members in HMO or PPO plan types in the same way (using the Commercial PPO fee schedule rate)*. If you have any questions, please use the contact information on the card to verify the member’s eligibility.

*If you participate in the UnitedHealthcare Dental Dual Complete Network for AZ, NY or PA, then you will be paid on different fee schedules.
